Don’t Forget Email Marketing For The Holidays

Matthew Elshaw Posted by

With just over two weeks until Christmas, the signs are positive that there is still plenty of shopping to be done. With new reports highlighting an overall increase in spending this year, some last minute marketing strategies can have a bigger impact than ever before.

Below are some ideas which can help to give your sales a final push leading up to the new year.

1. Title Tag and Content Tweaks
If you have a site that gets crawled reasonably frequently, making some small changes to your Title tags and content can be quite effective.

One technique you may want to try is to include some keywords related to “Christmas gifts” or “gift ideas” to your content and Title tag. Using Google insights for search can help you identify breakout terms that are popular around this time of year.

Another alternative is to modify your Title tag to include any special promotions (eg: our 20% off sale) which can help to increase click through on your organic listing.

Either way it’s a good idea to give your content a quick makeover as this can have benefits in Google rankings and customers confidence.

2. Don’t Forget Email
Retailers often mark email marketing as one of the most important demand generation activities for the holiday season. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, it’s a good idea to remind customers of your most important products and confirm ordering dates for guaranteed delivery before Christmas.

You may also want to consider running a special offer for past customers that can be shared with their family or friends if they’re not interested.

3. Put Social Media to Work
Make sure you continue to promote holiday discounts and sales on your blog, Facebook page, and Twitter. Again, you may want to consider running a special promotion to social media followers.

If you’re posting regularly make sure you are quick to address any customers comments so potential customers can see you are responsive in this hectic time of year.
